YTK is launching an AI-based service to support job seeking
YTK, Finland’s largest unemployment fund, plans to bring a new AI service to market in early autumn, with the aim of smoothing jobseekers’ career paths. The service helps screen vacancies and recommends suitable open positions to applicants.
The AI-powered system is being built together with Headai, a company based in Pori that specialises in cognitive AI and labour market data analysis. The service is scheduled to launch in August or September 2025, and was already tested last year with 1,300 users.
Technology to smooth the job hunt
The new AI service works by having the jobseeker enter basic details, such as a CV and their job preferences. The system analyses that information and compares it against job advertisements from public and private sources, including Finland’s Job Market Finland platform and Duunitori. The goal is to offer the most relevant job recommendations with as little effort as possible.
“We want to make job seeking smoother and less of a burden. At the moment jobseekers have to send countless applications with no certainty that they reach the right employers,” says YTK’s CEO Auli Hänninen in an article in Helsingin Sanomat.
Application volumes have risen significantly of late as the employment situation has weakened. Viking Line, for example, received more than 10,000 applications for 600 summer jobs, a sign of how much competition in the job market has tightened.
Plans for further development
YTK intends to keep developing the AI service after launch. One planned feature is automatically drafting and sending an application to employers. In future, the AI could also help jobseekers optimise their applications to better match what recruiters are looking for.
The service is part of YTK’s Sytyke employment service package, which offers jobseekers coaching, tools for writing a CV and application, and access to job advertisements.
Unemployment funds have expanded their activities following new legislation that allows them to offer employment services to members. Alongside YTK, the A-kassa fund is also developing an AI-based service, Työllisyysapuri, launching in the spring.
AI-assisted job search services could significantly change the traditional recruitment process, bringing both efficiency and precision for applicants and employers alike.
